CVS-203L Cardiac/Vascular Scanning Lab III (Fall 2024)

Course Description:  

This lab builds upon Adult Cardiac Scanning Lab II and Vascular scanning lab II. You will continue to use hands-on training to improve echocardiographic 2-D scanning techniques, patient positioning, transducer placement, image optimization and exam speed.  In addition, you will become familiar with techniques to perform stress echocardiography and Strain echocardiography. More advanced vascular scanning exams will also be incorporated. Emphasis will also be placed on prevention of musculoskeletal injuries (MSI). 

 

Learning Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to perform a complete Transthoracic Echocardiographic according to the Guidelines for Performing a Comprehensive Transthoracic Echocardiographic Examination in Adults: Recommendations from the American Society of Echocardiography  

 

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 

  1. Perform a complete transthoracic echocardiogram according to practice parameters established by national professional organizations and the protocol of Northwell Health. 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing an

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing an intracranial cerebrovascular color duplex examination. 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing an upper extremity and digital arterial physiologic testing 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing an upper extremity arterial duplex examination3. 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing a palmar arch examination 

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the technique of performing a native renal duplex examination8. 

  1. Demonstrate proper scanning ergonomics
