Vascular Sonography II

Course Description:

This course builds upon the knowledge gained in Vascular Sonography 1. It includes 2-D imaging, color Doppler and Spectral Doppler evaluation of the normal and abnormal visceral vessels. Additionally, included is the anatomy and Doppler evaluation of the intracranial arteries, hemodialysis access grafts, pseudoaneurysm, intracranial anatomy and Doppler evaluation

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing this course, you will be able to identify the visceral vascular anatomy.  You will demonstrate knowledge of sonographic appearances, sonographic techniques, measurements, and Doppler flow characteristics in normal and abnormal to recognize abdominal vascular diseases.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

1.      Demonstrate knowledge of sonographic appearances, sonographic techniques, measurements, and Doppler flow characteristics in both normal and abnormal vascular structures.

a.       Aorta and branches

b.      Inferior Vena cava and its tributaries

c.       Renal vessels

d.      Hepatoportal system

e.       Mesenteric arterial system

2.      Demonstrate knowledge of the role of ultrasound for evaluation of vascular surgical procedures or interventions, including a role in planning, intra-procedural guidance/technical evaluation, and/or post-procedure assessment.

a.       Endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR)

b.      Inferior vena cava filter

c.       Trans-jugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunt
