Course Description: This course is used to familiarize the student with the history of Radiologic Science and with general information, including the rules and regulations, which govern the program, as well as the health care industry.  The student will be acquainted and provided with an orientation on the sponsoring hospital’s policies and procedures.  Students will be introduced to an overview of the history of medicine and the beginning history of Radiologic Technology.  In addition, the students will be familiarized with the professional organizations of Radiology along with ethics and basic radiation protection relevant to the profession.  Students will be conversant will the importance of always maintaining professionalism in the clinical setting when interacting with the diverse human population that they serve.  Students will be instructed on the necessity of ensuring continual education in their modality, along with the opportunities available to them upon successful completion of their certification examination in Radiography.
